SHHHH!!! Don't Disturb IT!

Asbestos is a mineral fiber that can still be found in many older homes. Inhaling tiny asbestos fibers can increase the risk of lung cancer and other lung diseases. Pipe coverings, flooring, shingles and roofs are likely places to find asbestos.

Check asbestos-containing materials regularly for damage from tears, water or wear. Don't try to remove asbestos that is already in place; asbestos is best left undisturbed. If the material is damaged or you plan to remodel, protect your health by getting professional help.

What causes Mesothelioma?

The leading cause for Mesothelioma is Asbestos. Asbestos is a mineral that occurs as a long thin fiber that is used in most houses before the 1980's. Until the 1980's, when asbestos was banned due to its health dangers, asbestos had been used in many industrial and insulation materials as a fire retardant. Some of the jobs in which people have been exposed to asbestos directly or indirectly are those that involve factory work, demolition, insulation, shipbuilding, carpentry, installation of brake linings in vehicles, and many other jobs. Exposure to Asbestos is really dangerous and can cause Mesothelioma. Mesothelioma is a rare form of lung cancer that arises in the mesothelium. The mesothelium is made up of parietal and visceral membranes, thin layers of tissue, which surround organs and body cavities, such as the lungs or abdomen. The visceral membrane immediately surrounds the organ, and the parietal membrane is a sac covering the visceral membrane. The visceral and parietal membranes that make up the mesothelium. This fluid helps organs move easily among surrounding structures. In the case of the lung, it helps reduce friction between the lung and chest wall during normal breathing as the lung expands.

Veteran Ed's can help you with any kind of asbestos remediation project and help protect your and your loved ones from crippling diseases like Mesothelioma.
